What to do If You Can’t Find a Job?
If you are having a tough time finding a job because of the economy, here is a structured game plan of what to do to help with your bills and actually getting a job.
First, look for odd jobs that can pay you chunks of money. We’re talking about babysitting, mowing lawns, painting houses, moving furniture, etc. Anything where you can get quick cash for a service you’ve done.
Second, restrict your spending. Your income is limited and unstable. Thus, only spend money where necessary (ie groceries, rent, etc.)
Third, set aside every time to search for and apply for jobs. Notice I said apply. You will only get hired at jobs you apply for – not when you just browse around. Get your resume out there and apply, apply, apply! The more times you say “I want to work for you”, the more times you’ll get called back.
Don’t fear jobs that you technically don’t qualify for. Instead apply for them anyway and explain why you can make up the skills or experience needed. Many times companies break their own requisites and hire someone that wouldn’t technically have been hired. Furthermore, what about researching the best San Antonio Colleges and thinking about going back and getting more education? College degrees can make a big difference in whether or not you get certain San Antonio jobs.
Last, don’t just look for jobs online and in the newspaper. Go – in person – door to door to businesses. Try and talk directly with owners or the people in charge of human resources or hiring (even if just by email). Get where the action is. Go to businesses that look busy or seem overbooked and put your best on full display. Getting in touch and personal is a much better way of getting in contact with the people that hire than becoming 1 paper in a stack of 500 applicants.
Follow these job finding tips if you can’t find a job and you’ll find getting a job is easier than you thought.
